Finding a good keyboard can actually be a fairly difficult challenge. Sure, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of musical keyboards out there. However, due to there being so many choices, it makes it hard to actually choose a specific one.

Today, we are here to take a look at one particular keyboard, the Casio SA-77. This is a miniature keyboard that is technically designed for children to learn to play on. Therefore, if you want to get a good beginner keyboard for your kids, this is something to consider.

If you have kids that want to learn the keyboard, this is something we would recommend. This is an extremely portable keyboard that comes in at under $60. It is, therefore, one of the most affordable keyboards out there.

What is surprising is that even though it is portable, it comes complete with an extremely wide array of features. It has tons of different voices, tones, rhythms, and so much more. It is also designed to be extremely compact, lightweight, and portable too.

Who is this Product for?

As mentioned above, this keyboard is technically designed for children to learn to play on. It is quite small and designed for small fingers. That said, if you are a small person with small fingers, there’s really no reason why you couldn’t use it yourself. Just be aware that in terms of recreating an actual piano experience, it’s probably not the first option we would recommend.

What’s Included?

When you buy this particular keyboard, this is exactly what you get, the keyboard itself. Besides the power adapter, it does not include anything else. Although, the keyboard itself does have a wide variety of features.

Overview of Features

One of the standout features of this particular keyboard is the fact that it is extremely lightweight. It weighs only 1400 grams, therefore making it by far one of the lightest keyboards on the market at this time. It is also quite compact, coming in at just over 25 inches wide.

It is therefore also one of the most compact keyboards on the market at this time. With that being said, one of the reasons for this is that it is designed for children. This particular unit is designed for children to learn how to play the keyboard on, as well as just to have some fun on as well.

However, there is no reason why this cannot be used for real musical purposes, even for recording. It does, of course, have the benefit that it is extremely portable, thanks to its small size and lightweight design. The small size is definitely ideal for small hands.

Keep in mind that this is a 44 key keyboard, so it doesn’t have all that many keys. Yet, it should still be fine for basic purposes, especially for practicing basic piano playing.

We do also want to note that this keyboard is made out of fairly durable materials. Seeing as it is technically built for children, it is important that it is durable. Children aren’t always the most cautious with their belongings, so being tough is important.

This keyboard does have two built-in speakers that actually feature pretty good sound quality. It features an LSI sound source as well as an eight-note polyphony, which helps to ensure great sound quality.

This keyboard then also comes complete with a nice little LCD screen that makes selecting all of the different options very easy. Just in case you don’t want to hear what is going on, it also comes complete with a headphone output.

Speaking of all of those different options, one of the coolest features of this particular keyboard is the fact that it comes complete with over 100 different tones. This includes a variety of piano tones, reed organ tones, organ tones, strings, horns, and much more.

It then also comes complete with 50 rhythms that you can choose to play, as well as ten integrated songs. It also comes complete with five drum pads, and even a fully functional melody cut rehearsal system. This rehearsal system is one of the best features it has, especially when it comes to teaching beginners how to play.

There is then also a striking changeover switch that makes it very easy to switch between the piano find the organ modes. In terms of all of the features it has, this is absolutely one of the most versatile keyboards out there at this time.

Alternatives

Of course, the keyboard that we have reviewed today is a children’s model.

If you are looking for something a little larger with more keys, something better suited for adults, we recommend checking out the Yamaha P45 88 key weighted digital piano. This is specifically designed to mimic an acoustic piano for a great practicing experience.

If you are looking for a keyboard that has an extremely wide variety of features, such as over 400 voices, then it is the Yamaha YTP260 keyboard that we recommend.

Conclusion

Overall, we think that the Casio SA-77 44 Key Mini Personal Keyboard is a perfectly fine option for children and beginners. It is fully functional, so it can provide great practice.

It also has tons of voices and other neat features that make it fun to play around on. That said, it’s probably not something we would recommend for adults who are looking to seriously play the piano.
